Back to School

So I know I have been bad about posting and that school started about a month ago... WOW how time flies...can't believe it's been a month already. All the kids except Blake started school on the 10 of Aug. (my b-day), Blake started the next day (my dad's b-day).

Ashlyn is a Jr this year, while Darion started as a Freshman!!! (I am so not old enough to have two children in high school *groan*) Hailey is in 4th grade this year and she is excited about who she got as a teacher. I am still annoyed with the school she is attending as I am just not seeing the improvement with her issues. My opinion is she is falling further and further behind, and then eventually they will stick her in resource or special ed when she is older instead of having helped her now when it could make a difference ( I really do hate her school.) Blake is started 2nd grade this year and I have had to continue him at Aguilar instead of him attending the school (Hailey's school) that we live within the boundaries of. On the one hand I am grateful as I am growing to despise that school but on the other hand it makes things ( like a job) more difficult for me since I have to drop him off and pick him up everyday.

Ashlyn has chosen not to do band this year as there were some issues with the band director and decided it was not worth the headache that would be involved. She is doing dive again this year but as she has double ear infections she is kind of benched at the moment. She would also like to do track, however I do not think that is the best idea with her knee issues. She also said that she would like to do tennis again but I am not sure if she will actually follow through on that. She had her first summer job this past summer at Harkins Movie Theaters, which I made her quit when school started again since they refused to let her off early on school nights. So she is in need of finding a new job.

Darion had an eventful first few days, poor kid got lost trying to find his JROTC class! The second day he got lost in the 100 bldg. but I think he has gotten things all figured out. Initially he told me he wanted to go out for football but after a attending 2 days of his 3 day summer football camp he decided that football was not for him. I am hoping he will go out for the volleyball team as he enjoys this sport and is becoming very good at it. His biggest problem is keeping his hands together and 'slapping' the ball. He made the riffle team in JROTC and has to be at school early for practice several days a week.

Hailey has had a pretty uneventful time so far at school. Lat year she was involved with student counsel and a conflict team program that the school does. I am assuming she will do these things again. The only real problem she seems to have at school is kid making fun of her and calling her names because of her eyes. I finally went in this year and talked to the principle about the problem so hopefully this will get taken care of.

Blake has had a bit of a rough start this year. He was being distracted and then joining in with the kids at his table with talking and goofing off and not getting his work done. As soon as his teacher made me aware of this situation we nipped that in the bud. He has been doing much better in the classroom now. However he then had an incident on the playground in the morning before school. He was 'accidentally' kicked in the face by a 4th grader, whom he then hit in return. Of course the kid then punched him and further threatened him. So he lost morning recess for the rest of the week(*sigh*). I did go in and speak to the assistant principle about the discrepancies in the story I got from her and from what my son told me. Last year his teacher did a program with her class called First Steps, a running program, which this year all the kids in the school will have the opportunity to participate in. This is something he really loved and is looking forward to do again.

Colton is still at home, and we are working on his letters, sounds, numbers, shapes, and writing his name. As well as a bit of reading. He is getting ready to have his b-day this month (the 17th) and he will be turning 4. We have also been working on his swimming which he absolutely loves, he is becoming quite the fish. He has gotten so big and he is the sweetest little guy. He tells me all the time that he needs to learn his letters so that he can go to school. He has such a sweet and special spirit, and I am so glad he is mine to care for.

About Me

My photo
I am a mother of five wonderfully beautiful children. Ages ranging from 4yrs to 16 yrs. I am currently a full time student, majoring in psychology. I am also close to launching my own business, hoping that I will do well in this as raising five children alone is very time consuming all on it's own, let alone trying to find time to hold down a job as well. I love animals, and have 2 cats and a dog (yes that is on top of the five children)! I received my AA in July and started on my BA in Aug.(it seems never-ending). Well that's a good blip for the 'about me' spot the rest I will have to put into post.
